A Blood Bank in a hospital would attach a unit to each of 6 bags of blood going to an operating room. For any of the units of blood actually used, the sensor would record the temperature from the time the unit left the blood bank to the time the sensor was de-activated and the blood was actually used.
The patient ID number as well as an ID number for the unit of blood would also be stored in the data record. When any units of blood are returned to the Blood Bank, it could be determined at that time if they were safe to put back into inventory or if they needed to be disposed of, potentially saving thousands of dollars a year in unnecessarily disposed of blood product.

Pharmacy Services is charged with the responsibility of maintaining proper storage of refrigerated medication. This is typically achieved by using a daily refrigerator temperature log sheet. A log sheet is placed on the pharmacy refrigerator. It is used to record the temperature on a daily basis.
To ensure proper storage conditions the temperature must be between 36 and 46 degrees F. Readings outside this range is documented with actions documented/initialed. Actions require pharmacist assessment of contents and whether they must be discarded, replaced, etc. and adjustment of the dial. Refrigerator is rechecked to ensure adjusted temperature status.

Track temperatures on shipments between one location and another. You can place a sensor in as many containers
as you would like to verify the temperature history during transportation. Each sensor can be programmed with
the unique shipment information (product name, destination or any other identifying information you would like).
The unit is activated before shipment and read/de-activated at the receiving end. Both the sending and receiving
parties will have a complete time/temperature history.
